Following the ongoing trend on social media, Pakistan’s Test captain, Azhar Ali, has enlisted his all-time Pakistan XI. Ali was recently appointed as the skipper of the Men in Green in red-ball cricket.

Ali has more than 7700 international runs to his name with 16 tons in Tests as well as three centuries in ODI cricket.
In his Test XI, he included the finest cricketers ever produced by the Men in Green over the decades.

Opening the batting in Ali’s lineup are legendary batsmen Hanif Mohammad and Saeed Anwar. The two stalwarts have amassed heaps of hard runs while facing the new ball in all conditions.

At number three is their street-smart veteran, Younis Khan, who called it quits from the game along with Misbah-ul-Haq in 2017.

Maverick batsman Javed Miandad comes in at the all-important number four position, commonly reserved for the best batsmen in the team.

At five is the gentle-giant Inzamam-ul-Haq, who accumulated tons of runs in the middle order, along with Mohammad Yousuf, who interestingly did not find a place in Azhar’s all-time lineup of Pakistan.

Pakistan’s dreaded pace bowling trio of Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis and Imran Khan all walk in the XI, with Azhar Mahmood being the bowling all-rounder.

The spin-bowling duties are handed to Abdul Qadir, while out-of-favour wicketkeeper Sarfaraz Ahmed appointed to don the gloves in Azhar’s lineup. Spin wizard Saqlain Mushtaq also makes into the side as the 12th man.

Azhar Ali’s all-time Test XI:

Hanif Mohammad, Saeed Anwar, Younis Khan, Javed Miandad, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Imran Khan (c), Wasim Akram, Sarfaraz Ahmed (wk), Azhar Mahmood, Abdul Qadir, Waqar Younis.
12th man- Saqlain Mushtaq
