During the second qualifier of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 played in Visakhapatnam, Delhi Capitals (DC) tailender Ishant Sharma hit ten runs off three deliveries bowled by Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja.

Coming in to bat at No. 11 in the last over of the first innings, Ishant stepped out of his crease on the penultimate delivery to smash an eye-catching boundary off Jadeja. A similar shot on the following delivery saw Ishant hit Jaddu for the third six of the match.

Ishant’s cameo guided Capitals to a total of 147/9 in their stipulated 20 overs. Half-centuries from CSK opening batsmen, Shane Watson (50 off 32) and Faf du Plessis (50 off 39), might have won Chennai the match but Ishant has disclosed an amusing anecdote from that game.

Speaking to Gaurav Kapur on his YouTube show Isolation Premier League, Ishant revealed about how CSK captain MS Dhoni got irritated after watching his batting skills.

“Last year in the IPL, Mahi bhai (Dhoni) used to make fun of me that I can’t hit sixes, saying you don’t have that power. Then came Jaddu (Jadeja) and I smashed him for a four and followed it with a six. Then I turned my head towards Mahi bhai to see his reaction, who abused Jaddu,” Ishant was quoted as saying to Gaurav Kapoor.
