Indian fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, recently was asked to choose between the supreme fitness regime of captain Virat Kohli and Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Kohli was responsible for revolutionizing the importance of fitness in Indian cricket team by setting high standards himself.
Ibrahimovic, at 38, is still competing at the highest level in club football, with his recent comeback to Italian Serie A giants AC Milan.
Swedish number nine, Ibra, started his career at Malmo FF and then was signed by Ajax. From there, Zlatan represented Champions League winning clubs such as Manchester United, Inter Milan, Barcelona. The eccentric attacker also donned the jerseys of LA Galaxy and Paris Saint-Germaine in his glittering career.
Only a few footballers over the years have been able to sustain themselves in European football leagues at that age. It is the most exceptional testimonial for Ibra’s fitness regime.
Bumrah raised his admiration levels for the Swedish great by another level by choosing him as his fitness idol.
Yuvraj Singh: Your fitness idol, is it Virat Kohli or Zlatan Ibrahimovic?
Jasprit Bumrah: Ibrahimovic as an idol in general
Earlier, during the chat between Bumrah and his Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma, Bumrah talked in detail about relating to his story with the football icon.
The maverick footballer previously touched upon him being written off but proving one and all wrong by succeeding at the highest level.
In his autobiography ‘I am Zlatan’, the Swede talked about his struggles coming from an unprivileged family to reaching monumental heights in international football.
The highlight of Zlatan’s career came during a friendly match against England when he hammered all four goals in their 4-3 win over the three lions, including an insane bicycle-kick from way outside the box.
Overall, Zlatan has 540 career goals to his name, bringing Sweden in the footballing map.
