Former England batsman Kevin Pietersen responded to Michael Vaughan spilling beans about the atmosphere of the England side when the former bagged a lucrative IPL contract in 2009.
Vaughan claimed about factions in the team envious about KP being recruited by IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), for a record sum of 1.55 million dollars in 2009.
The former England captain took names of James Anderson, Stuart Broad, Matt Prior, Tim Bresnan and Graeme Swann being ‘jealous’ of Pietersen since they did not get to have a ‘sniff’ at these cash-heavy contracts.
Pietersen took to Twitter, to register his response to Vaughan’s statements. Through his post, KP pleaded about these issues being brought up all over again in a time when ‘positivity’ is much needed.
“STAGGERING! Still getting headlines, these stories! Can I humbly request that this ISN’T spoken about AGAIN! We’ve all moved on and there’s many more wonderful things to talk about in my career! We live in a broken world right now, where positivity is needed! PLEASE?” KP retaliated.

“I think there was a lot of jealousy. And the players will completely deny it now but I think there was at the time when Kevin was on a massive contract,” Vaughan told Fox Sports.
Also, Vaughan touched up the disliking of Pietersen in the England team and the infamous ‘Text Message Gate’ with South African career, which stained his international career for the Three Lions.
Under normal circumstances, Pietersen would have resumed his stint in the IPL commentary box as well as pre-match and post-match analysis.
However, KP kept himself busy by extensively interviewing cricketing stars around the world on Instagram Live. Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ajmal Shahzad being the three most prominent ones. KP is also part of Star Sports show ‘Cricket Connected’ where he has effectively used the platform to state his opinion.
