Mr Cricket ‘Michael Hussey’, during a recent interaction, named his favourite captain. Hussey has played under the inspirational leadership of several world-class captains.

Out of them, Hussey chose his Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni and Australia captain, Ricky Ponting.

Both Ponting and Dhoni have had an excellent tenure as captains of the national team. Also, the latter excelled in captaincy in T20 franchise cricket as well. The two are perhaps the best captains the game of cricket has witnessed, both by title counts as well as win percentage.

Hussey enjoyed a successful stint as a batsman up the order for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for several seasons. Proving his loyalty to the Yellow Army, Hussey is currently the batting coach of the CSK.

Also, the left-handed batsman was part of the star-studded Australian side, led by Ponting in all formats of the game.

“They are two amazing captains. It is hard to split who’s better. They are very different as well. MS Dhoni is very calm, cool and collected. He doesn’t talk much but when he does talk, everyone really tunes in and listens to him,” Hussey stated during an Instagram Live Session.

“Ricky Ponting is a lot more animated. He is aggressive on the field, a very competitive guy. At the fielding practice, he wants to be the best and he wants to be the best batsman in the nets,” Hussey remarked on Ponting.

A late-bloomer in international cricket, Hussey found it challenging to break into the side with a galaxy of superstars in the national team.

But the Western Australia batter did not let the opportunity go once he was given a break in the side in 2005. Since then, he amassed over 12,000 runs in all formats of the game. Hussey almost carried an average of 50 in both Tests (51) and ODIs (49).
