The retired UP cricketer revolutionized Indian fielding in tandem with Yuvraj Singh, being placed at covers and point.
After enjoying a successful stint at the international stage for several years, Kaif went out-of-favour in the national team.
Kaif came into the radar of the selectors after he successfully led the Indian U19 to victory in the World Cup in 2000. His knock at Lord’s in the 2002 NatWest Tri-series final remains etched in the memories of Indian cricket enthusiasts.
Yuvraj and Kaif stitched a game-changing 121 runs partnership in the match as India chased down a steep total of 325, losing half their side for just 146.
After being dropped from the national side, Kaif concentrated on his domestic career and represented the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL. He was given a mentorship role at Gujarat Lions in the interim, where he was seen bidding for players during the IPL auctions.
Post-retirement, Kaif has been a renowned Hindi commentator on Star Sports.
