Prithvi Shaw names his favourite opening partner

The lockdown was extended in India to May 3 after seeing the rise in Coronavirus affected patients. Amid the lockdown, many cricketers have rolled over towards social media to interact with their fans and followers. Not so long ago, cricketers like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and others were seen chatting with fellow players and answering queries of their fans.

Now the young and talented batsman Prithvi Shaw has also joined the bandwagon as he recently participated in an Instagram live session for the Delhi Capitals (DC). During the chat, the Mumbai cricketer was asked to name his favourite opening partner.

Shaw responded to the question and took the name of his DC opening partner and Team India’s destructive batsman Shikhar Dhawan. Shaw stated that since he has opened with Dhawan a lot, he remains his favourite opening partner.

“Shikhar Dhawan because I have opened with him most,” Shaw said during the Instagram live session.

Dhawan was added in the squad in 2019 after the Delhi franchise was relaunched as Delhi Capitals from Delhi Daredevils. The inclusion of Dhawan did wonders for the side as DC finished at the third spot in the 12th edition of the cash-rich league.

In 16 games, Dhawan accumulated 521 runs – fourth highest in the 2019 season – with an impressive strike-rate of 135.67. The left-handed batsman scored five half-centuries with an unbeaten 97 being his best knock.

Shaw, on the other hand, also shimmered in last year’s edition, scoring as many as 353 runs in 16 matches. The 20-year-old smashed two fifties with 99 being his best which came against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Delhi.
