Riyan Parag picks his favourite IPL franchise and it’s not Rajasthan Royals

The coronavirus pandemic has forced the Indian government to extend the 21-day lockdown to May 3 in order to stop the spread of the deadly disease. Meanwhile, cricketers are shifting their focus towards social media chat sessions where they get the opportunity to hang out with fans virtually.

Latest, in addition, is youngster Riyan Parag who plays for Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Rajasthan Royals (RR). For the 2019 season, Parag was picked by the Jaipur-based team for INR 20 lakhs.

During the free time, Parag got involved in an Instagram live chat session where he answered many questions. Out of those queries, one fan asked the Guwahati-born to name his favourite IPL team. Unlike the expected answer (Royals), he went for the most successful team in the history of the cash-rich league, Mumbai Indians.

Parag left his impact in the 12th edition of the lucrative league by some really good performances. He clubbed 160 runs in 7 matches with an outstanding strike-rate of 126.98.

Parag smashed a half-century against Delhi Capitals (DC) and became the youngest player to score a fifty in the history of IPL.

The Assam cricketer also slammed five sixes and 17 fours during the 2019 season. Speaking about fours, Parag disclosed that hitting South African spinner Imran Tahir for a boundary was his favourite moment in the IPL.

Just like other youngsters, Parag was also looking forward to spreading the magic in the 13th edition of IPL which was supposed to kick-off from March 29, but due to the COVID-19 crisis followed by lockdown, BCCI was forced to postpone the 2020 season.
