Young Sanju Samson is one of the most exceptional talents in Indian cricket. The Indian Premier League (IPL) has given the Kerala player the right platform to showcase his talent. However, Sanju still hasn’t been able to cement his place in the national team.
Sanju came into the limelight when he debuted for Rajasthan Royals (RR) in IPL 2013. The wicket-keeper batsman impressed everyone and became the youngest player to smash a half-century in the lucrative league. His record stayed till 2019 when another youngster Riyan Parag from the same Royals team broke Sanju’s achievement.
Since no cricketing event is taking place due to the spread of Coronavirus pandemic, Sanju is also spending time with his family at home. In the meantime, the swashbuckling right-handed batsman had a chat with Manorama Online – a Malayalam language news channel and revealed the name of the toughest bowler he has faced in the IPL so far.
“Sunil Narine. Though I have played well against him in the IPL, he’s a superb bowler,” Sanju told Manorama Online.
Sanju has played 93 IPL matches so far, in which he has accumulated 2209 runs at a strike rate of 130. The 25-year-old has also smashed two centuries and ten half-centuries in the cash-rich league.
The Vizhinjam-born cricketer was supposed to join Royals in the 2020 season of IPL, but the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) was forced to suspend the 13th season until mid-April as the country is facing a lockdown which has been extended till May 3.
