Sprinter Hima Das reveals her favourite IPL team

Indian athlete Hima Das has enunciated her love for one of the most successful Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises – the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The ace sprinter was in conversation with CSK veteran Suresh Raina on Sunday when she revealed her favourite IPL team.

Since no sporting events are being conducted these days due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, many sports personalities are regularly taking part in chat sessions on various social media platforms and interacting with their fans and followers.

Hima, who is also known as the Dhing Express, took part in an Instagram chat session hosted by Raina. During which, she named Dhoni-led CSK as her favourite IPL franchise. The 20-year-old star athlete stated that she likes CSK only because of former India captain MS Dhoni and southpaw Raina.

“I like CSK because of Dhoni bhaiya and you. Assam is very beautiful, it is very green due to the tea gardens,” Hima told Raina.

The Assam runner also recalled the episode when she first met India’s iconic cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. Hima expressed that she was in tears when she met her idol Sachin for the first time and said it was the biggest moment of her life.

“I still remember talking to him. When I saw him, I ended up crying. It was the best moment for me. Meeting your role model is a big moment for everyone, and I can not forget that” Hima added.

CSK is considered as the most celebrated team in IPL. The ‘Yellow Brigade’ has so far won three IPL titles and qualified for playoffs in every season they played. CSK became champions in 2010, 2011, and 2018.

Hima, on the other hand, came into the limelight after she won 400m gold in the 2018 World U20 Championships in Finland, clocking 51.46 seconds and becoming the first Indian sprinter to win a gold medal at an international track event.
