Amidst the break from cricketing events due to the coronavirus pandemic, wicket-keeper batsman Alex Carey revealed his combined India-Australia T20I XI. Carey, who has played 36 ODIs and 28 T20I for Australia, picked his playing XI during an Instagram live session with Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Delhi Capitals.
One of the most prominent omissions from Carey’s combined Indo-AUS T20 XI was Indian star opener, Rohit Sharma. Instead, the Aussie keeper chose former Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) teammates Shikhar Dhawan and David Warner as opening partners.
To put things into perspective, Rohit is the only cricketer in the world to smash four T20I centuries and has scored over 2700 runs in 108 T20Is for India at an excellent strike rate of 138.78.
Carey gave the all-important number three position to former Aussie skipper Steve Smith while picked Team India captain Virat Kohli at number four.
Carey also chose himself along with Rishabh Pant in the middle order.
While Ravindra Jadeja found a place in the final XI as an all-rounder, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Jasprit Bumrah were picked as frontline pacers.
Adam Zampa is the lone spinner in the side.
