Continuing with their recent trend of bold predictions, Fox Cricket has announced their World XI of the year 2025.
There they made some inclusions and omissions, thereby, raising a few eyebrows. At the opening slot, they included 2018 U19 World Cup sensations Prithvi Shaw and Shubman Gill.
The talented duo have already laid their stepping stones in international cricket. The two have been earmarked to be the future of Indian as well as international cricket.
However, there was no place for David Warner and Rohit Sharma who dominated in international cricket off-late.
The prominent media house then went ahead with Steve Smith at number three ahead of Indian captain Virat Kohli.
Fox Cricket captioned their post by asking, “Would a 35-year-old Steve Smith still make it into a World XI in 2025?”
Indian cricketers, especially the legends of the game, such as Sachin Tendulkar, are known to have long, illustrious careers.
Therefore, at the age of 36, certainly, King Kohli would dominate world cricket, and his omission created some furore on social media with fans questioning the decision.
Instead, the Australian broadcasters went ahead with Babar Azam and Marnus Labuschagne in the middle-order.
