Heartbroken by the tragic Pakistan International Airline (PIA) plane crash on Friday, former and current India-Pakistan cricketers offered their condolences and prayers to the families of the deceased.
According to a report filed by news agency PTI, it has been learned that the PIA passenger plane was about to complete its landing when the aircraft crashed at the Jinnah Garden area which is nearby to the Model Colony in Malir.
Flown by Captain Sajjad Gul, the PIA Airbus A320 had 98 people on board including 91 passengers and seven flight crew members. At least four bodies have been recovered from the damaged houses after the plane crashed into a densely populated residential area situated near the Jinnah International Airport. “It is too early to say how many people have died in this tragic accident but… it will be a miracle if the passengers and crew members have survived this horrible landing,” a senior police official was quoted as saying.
“Saddened to hear about the loss of lives in Karachi air crash. May God give strength to all bereaved families. I pray for immediate rescue of all those who survived,” tweeted India’s 2007 and 2011 World Cup winner Gautam Gambhir.
