India’s limited-overs stalwart KL Rahul was recently asked to reveal his favourite memory with former Indian captain MS Dhoni.

It was under the captaincy of Dhoni during the 2014 Australian tour of India that Rahul got the opportunity to make his international debut.

Also, it was the same series when MSD hung up his boots from the longest format of the game, handing over the baton of captaincy to Virat Kohli.

However, it was during the 2016 West Indies tour when the two batted out of their skins to almost chase down an improbable target.

In one of the two T20I matches at Lauderhill, Miami, West Indies posted a mammoth 246 in front of the Men in Blue, powered by the ton from Evin Lewis.

India in reply came out all guns blazing with Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul’s second wicket partnership. After the loss of Rohit’s wicket, Dhoni and Rahul continued the onslaught with their quickfire 107 run partnership.

KL also brought his maiden T20I ton, with his unbeaten knock of 110 which came off just 51 deliveries.
Dhoni complemented Rahul with his blistering knock of 43 off just 25 runs. Chasing the monumental target, India fell only one short of the target, with two required in the final delivery.

Dwayne Bravo managed the prized wicket of Dhoni in the final delivery of the match as the latter edged a delivery to short-third-man off a slower one.

“I think our partnership in the game vs the West Indies in Miami,” replied Rahul to one of the Twitter users, who asked about his favourite moment with MSD.

Rahul smashed 12 fours and six maximums during his epic knock. With eight required off the final over, Bravo managed to defend them against his Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain.

Interestingly, the match was also the last time Dhoni led the Indian team in the T20I format.
