The Indian cricket team is renowned for being ardent followers of football. The likes of MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli and Yuvraj Singh have often flaunted their footballing skills during charity matches with Bollywood celebrities or during training drills.
Captain Kohli is a German Football team supporter while Rohit Sharma is a proud Madridista. The cricketers are also big fans of top-footballers such as Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar Jr.
During a recent interaction, India left-arm chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav registered his admiration for Brazilian winger Neymar, tagging him as his favourite.
The leggie also disclosed that his favourite club is FC Barcelona, where Neymar paired up with Messi and Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez to form the lethal ‘MSN’ combination.
Further, Kuldeep talked about his clashes with the Indian captain, Kohli, who is a Ronaldo fan. The Kanpur spinner revealed that the first football match he saw was between soccer titans Brazil and Spain.
Also, Kuldeep said that it was the first time he witnessed the Paris Saint-Germaine attacker in action.
“The first football match I saw was Brazil vs Spain in 2012, in which Neymar was playing. I saw him for the first time, and I thought he is a great player. His quality and skill level was too good. He is my favourite player since then. Many people don’t like him. Me and captain Virat Kohli argue a lot over this because he is a Ronaldo fan,” Yadav was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
Kuldeep further recalled the instance when both Messi and Portugal scored hat tricks in the same day.
“Yes, absolutely. My favourite club is FC Barcelona. Once, Ronaldo scored a hattrick for Portugal. So, Kohli came to me and he was showing me a video. That evening, Messi also scored a hattrick as well, so I showed that to him and said– look at this,” added Kuldeep.
