When it comes to T20 cricket, the Calypso Kings rule the world. The Maroon jerseys have two T20 World Cup titles to their name, which they won in the year 2012 and 2016.
Also, the Caribbean cricketers have dominated franchise cricket by participating in all the top leagues in the world.
The West Indies teammates, more often than not, go at loggerheads with each other in these leagues, playing for different camps. Such is the dynamics within Cricket West Indies (CWI) currently.
While speaking to Cricbuzz, T20 great Dwayne Bravo had to make the difficult choice of picking the top five cricketers out of many options provided, chronologically.
The Trinidadian received a bouncer from Harsha Bhogle, up-front. Bravo had to choose between batting stalwarts from Australia, David Warner and Matthew Hayden, legendary openers Brendon McCullum and Virender Sehwag, and fellow countrymen Dwayne Smith and Chris Gayle.
He went ahead with ‘Universe Boss’ Chris Gayle, who is the leading run-getter in T20 cricket.
In the second round, out of the options of Gautam Gambhir, KL Rahul, Jonny Bairstow, Shane Watson, and Chris Lynn, Bravo chose his CSK teammate Shane Watson.
Next, Bravo had to face the uphill task of picking out of Ambati Rayudu, Suresh Raina, Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis and Kane Williamson. To which, Bravo declared Raina as his favourite, but had to go with King Kohli.
However, the exciting round arrived when it was for the all-rounders with CSK talisman MS Dhoni. Out of Glenn Maxwell, Hardik Pandya, Andre Russell, and Kieron Pollard, Bravo had to leave out his West Indies teammates to pick the CSK captain.
Interestingly, Bravo chose AB de Villiers ahead of stars like Rohit Sharma, Ben Stokes, Yuvraj Singh and Michael Hussey.
Here is Bravo’s top five picks in T20 cricket:
Chris Gayle, Shane Watson, Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, and Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
