Mumbai Indians latest recruit, Digvijay Deshmukh, who was seen in ‘Kai Po Che’ along with Sushant Singh Rajput, has rued not being able to fulfil a promise made to the late actor.

The shocking death of Sushant Singh Rajput opened a can of worms in Bollywood, relating to Nepotism and the shallow culture amongst people in the fraternity.

However, many have expressed their sorrows for not able to keep in touch with Sushant during the past year. Apparently, this was the phase when the actor was coping with depression.

Although, none griefer tale than that of Deshmukh, who played the role of an aspiring cricketer trained by Ishaan, the character name of Rajput.

Not only in reel life but also real-life, Sushant wanted Deshmukh to become a professional cricketer, and thus, the promise made to the late actor.

During the shoot of the movie which was released in 2013, Digvijay promised Sushant of only meeting him once he becomes a professional cricketer.

“He was passionate about cricket. On the last day of shoot, I had promised him I’d not meet him till I became a decent level cricketer. This year, when I got selected to play for Mumbai Indians, I decided to meet him but then the lockdown happened and now he is no more,” shares Deshmukh in a somber tone, and adds, “I wish the lockdown wouldn’t have been there, at least then I would have been able to fulfil the promise I made to him. I failed to do so,” said Digvijay.

Also, during the shoot of MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, Sushant visited the hometown of the 22-year-old Pune pacer, but couldn’t meet due to the promise made to him. “Even then I did not meet him because I wanted to keep the promise. I regret it,” he added.

Recently, the Mumbai Indians community wished Deshmukh on his birthday with their post on Instagram.

“I was 15 then and I shot with him for six months. He would ask me to come to his room after the shoot got over, and train me with scenes and camera angles. He was very involved. He was very friendly, happy and jovial and so passionate about his work. Even though he was such a big name, he would ask me about cricket since I was already a professional cricketer than,” he said.

“In his (last) film Chhichhore, he talked about how suicide is not the solution, then why did he do it? He was always so energetic and lively, I can’t understand what made him do this. I heard somewhere that he was depressed for a few years, I don’t get it at all,” concluded Digvijay.
