Deepak Chahar has been MS Dhoni’s go-to bowler in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He has worked out well for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the last couple of seasons. His ability to pick wickets early in the innings with the new ball has been utilized very well by Dhoni.

Chahar, on Sunday, revealed his plan if he had to bowl to Dhoni in the death overs. The Agra-born seamer further went on to add that when he told his plan to Dhoni, the CSK skipper reacted hilariously.

Speaking to Star Sports’ Cricket Connected, Chahar was posed the question wherein he was asked whether he has a secret plan while bowling to Dhoni in death overs. Deepak admitted that he had discussed the same with Dhoni a few days ago.

“I had asked the same question to him four days back. He (Dhoni) said ‘knuckleball would be a good option’. And I replied saying that you would hit it out of the park then,” said Deepak with a smile before adding, “Wide yorker and the slower bouncer would be good options and he replied saying ‘thanks for revealing the plan and watch out for the auctions.”

Well, MS Dhoni is one of the best finishers the game has ever seen. He has won numerous matches for India and CSK in the IPL by bailing his team out of trouble in pressure situations. Despite having seen his power-hitting ability going down with his growing age, Dhoni remains a nightmare for the opposition bowlers in the death overs.

MSD started off for India as a swashbuckling youngster known for his explosive batting, however, he shifted himself into the middle-order after being handed over the captaincy responsibilities and possesses a stellar record when it comes to finishing games. While Dhoni has won several matches for India from improbable situations, he has been brilliant for CSK as well, over the years.

The 38-year-old was in top-notch form in the IPL last year where he finished as the highest run-scorer for CSK with 416 runs from 15 matches to take his team into the final. He finished several games for CSK both while chasing and batting first.
