Tracing the career graph of Bengal batsman Manoj Tiwary, it has been one of the most mystifying and unfortunate ones in Indian cricket.
After a few stellar first-class seasons, Tiwary was all set to make his debut against Pakistan in 2007-08, but an untimely fracture to the shoulder while fielding, forced him out of the team.
However, he got his opportunity under MS Dhoni, during the 2008 Commonwealth Bank series against Australia at Brisbane. In that match, Tiwary missed a peach from Brett Lee and had to walk back to the dressing room after losing his stumps.
Then, after being out of favour in the Indian lineup, Tiwary was forced to warm the bench, before finally scoring his maiden ton against West Indies in 2011 at Chennai.
Despite walking away with the ‘Man of the Match’ award, Tiwary was dropped for the next 14 games and only made sporadic appearances since then. Meanwhile, Tiwary won the IPL title with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 2012 and 2014 seasons.
The Indian tour of Zimbabwe in 2015 turned out to be the last outing for Tiwary donning the national colours. Also, he was part of Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) successful campaign in 2017, where they lost the finals by just one run to Mumbai Indians. Tiwary won four ‘Man of the Match’ titles that season.
However, Tiwary failed to attract bidders during the IPL auctions in 2019. Now, one of the accounts on Instagram named ‘IPL Freak’ included the 34-year-old Bengal cricketer in the Flop XI list.
Wondering wat went wrong on my part after getting Man of a match award wen I scored a hundred 4 my country and got dropped for the next 14 games on a trot ?? Looking at d awards which I received during 2017 IPL season, wondering wat went wrong ??? pic.twitter.com/GNInUe0K3l

Manoj’s better-half, Susmita Roy objected to the post and gave a befitting reply to the anonymous owner of the page, saying, “Who so ever created dis profile How dare u bloody dragged my husband’s name in it. U better do ur bloody facts check. Do something in ur s*** ugly life rather dan posting s*** about people. Go n get a life.”
Recently, Tiwary also objected to KKR’s recent celebratory post for winning the 2012 season, where they forgot to tag their domestic knight.
Yes I, along with others have too many memories, emotions and that will remain forever but after seeing this tweet where u all forgot to mention n tag me and @Sah75official is insulting and this mrng tweet of urs will remain close to every knight Rider’s 💓 #disappointed https://t.co/FF53pqP1pE
