Veteran Indian wicket-keeper Parthiv Patel is one of the very few players who has played under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Needless to say that Parthiv would be the perfect person who could describe the difference of playing under these three captains.

Recently, in a candid chat with former international Aakash Chopra, the wicketkeeper-batsman has revealed the difference and experience of playing under Dhoni, Rohit and Kohli. He also talked about their leadership styles.

During the chat, Parthi explained that Kohli is different from the rest as he likes to be at the front and keeps the players on their toes, whereas Dhoni and Rohit keep the dressing room calm.

“Virat has a different style of captaincy; he likes to be right in front every time; he likes to be lead from the front and be aggressive all the time. It is his style, and it has suited him. Dhoni and Rohit keep the dressing room calm while Virat makes sure that everyone is on their toes and they all keep pushing themselves,” said Parthiv.

Parthiv hailed Dhoni and said the latter knows how to bring out the ‘A’ game of any player. Parthiv stated that MSD allows players to play in their own zone, which helps the team eventually as they express themselves freely.

“I think MS Dhoni knows completely about every player’s potential and what all can be extracted out from him. Dhoni knows what the potential of a player is, and he brings that out. He lets them play in their own style, and gives them space to express themselves,” the 35-year-old added.

Parthiv had started his India career before Dhoni, and interestingly he had begun his IPL career with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as well. Moreover, Parthiv had also made his limited-overs comeback under Dhoni but never got to play a Test match under him.

Then, under the captaincy of Kohli, Parthiv made his comeback to the Test team. He also played under the Delhi-born cricketer at Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Currently, he is a member of team RCB.

Although Parthiv didn’t play under Rohit in international cricket, he did play under Rohit during his stint with Mumbai Indians (MI). Parthiv was a part of the squad of IPL 2015 and 2017 winning teams.

Overall, Parthiv has played 139 games in the IPL, in which the Ahmedabad-born has accumulated 2848 runs at a strike rate of 120.78. The left-handed batsman has smashed 13 half-centuries in the tournament.
