Just like others, former India cricketer Yuvraj Singh has also been quite active on social media amid lockdown. He is often seen in various chat sessions with fellow cricketers or journalists, placing his views about cricketing matters. However, in a recent chat symposium, the former all-rounder got in trouble after he made a ‘casteist’ remark on Yuzvendra Chahal & Kuldeep Yadav which went viral on social media platforms.
In the trending video, Yuvraj is seen talking to Rohit Sharma about India leg spinner Chahal’s obsession with TikTok videos. Later in the conversation, Yuvraj casually used a ‘casteist’ slur on Chahal and Kuldeep. After which Yuvi faced a backlash on social media where users asked the 2011 World Cup hero to apologise for the comments.
However, now, the 38-year-old has landed in the greater mess as a Dalit rights activist and advocate Rajat Kalsan has lodged a Police complaint against Yuvraj in Hisar as reported by Zee News. After filing the FIR, Kalsan fired shots at Rohit as well saying why the ‘Hitman’ did not express his disapproval over Yuvraj’s remark.
Not so long ago Yuvraj had called out former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi for his silly comments on Indian PM and Kashmir. Afridi had requested the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to include a team from Kashmir in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), which triggered a lot of attention.
“I would like to request PCB to introduce a team from Kashmir in next season. I wish to play my last PSL season with the Kashmir team, in fact as their captain,” Afridi had said.
After Afridi’s statement on Kashmir and Modi, Yuvraj had shown his disappointment and said he would never help the former Pakistani all-rounder even on humanitarian grounds.
“Really disappointed by @SAfridiOfficial’s comments on our Hon’ble PM @narendramodi ji. As a responsible Indian who has played for the country, I will never accept such words. I made an appeal on your behest for the sake of humanity. But never again,” the Chandigarh-born had tweeted.
