Virat Kohli, Steve Smith, Kane Williamson and Joe Root are regarded as the finest batsmen in the modern-day cricket. The ‘Fab four’ have built a reputation for themselves over the years with immaculate talent, skills and sheer consistency across all formats.

However, when it comes to picking the best among the four, several experts and players tend to pick one between Kohli and Smith. While Kohli is ranked number one in ICC ODI rankings, Smith is the number one batsman in Tests at the moment.

Recently, Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi, who plays for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) was asked to pick the No. 1 batsman among ‘Fab four’ during an interview.

“Who according to you, is the no. 1 batsman? Virat, Steve, Williamson or Joe Root,” Nabi was asked in an interview with Crictracker. “It is Smith these days, I guess,” he responded.

After Steve Smith came back from his ban, the Australian has shown no signs of rust. During Ashes 2019, Smith managed to score 774 runs in just seven innings. Recently, the Aussie star also revealed that he will be open to playing in the IPL 2020 if the T20 World Cup gets postponed. Smith currently plays for Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the IPL.

Nabi’s revelation, meanwhile, comes as a surprise since he picked Smith over his SRH captain Kane Williamson. Nabi also spoke about what makes SRH so special. The all-rounder said that team unity amongst the SRH players is its most important aspect. While choosing his favourite SRH player though, Mohammad Nabi named Williamson.

Mohammad Nabi heaps praise on MS Dhoni

Nabi, who has played in 124 ODIs till now, was also expressed his views on former India captain MS Dhoni. The Afghani heaped huge praises on the wicketkeeper-batsman and said doors of Dhoni’s room are open at any point of the hour. Nabi said ‘nice man’ Dhoni talks to people over tea in his room.

“MS Dhoni is the best, calm and a great human being. The doors of his room are open 24*7 for everyone where he has tea with people and talks to them. I have met him 2-3 times, and he is really a nice man,” he said.
