Two-time World cup winning cricketer, Yuvraj Singh, recently took a dig at his former Indian teammate Gautam Gambhir, through a comment on the latter’s Instagram post.
Gambhir, who helped Indian team win in the finals of the 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 ODI World Cup, was renowned for having a no-nonsense attitude while on the field.
The Delhi opener was one of the most competitive cricketers ever produced by the country, who wasn’t shy of confrontations with the opposition.
Gambhir picked up fights with the likes of Shane Watson, Simon Katich, Kamran Akmal, and arch-rival Shahid Afridi, during his international career.
He was also involved in a spat with his Delhi and India teammate Virat Kohli, during one of the IPL matches between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
It was only due to his fierce attitude, which brought about a winning culture within the KKR camp. Under Gambhir, KKR won the IPL titles in 2012 and 2014, making his mark as a successful captain.
During one of the IPL matches in 2017 with RCB, KKR were bundled out for a meek total of 131 at their own fortress at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
It was later reported that Gambhir gave a mouthful to his teammates during his mid-inning pep-talk. The result was a fired-up KKR lineup dismissing RCB for just 49 runs. Such was the hard-taskmaster attitude Gambhir possessed. As a result, very seldom have we seen Gambhir smiling on the cricket field.
Yuvi, who has recently been in the firing line for his comments against Yuzvendra Chahal, has now moved towards Gambhir.
“After seeing myself edging an out-swinging ball straight to the slip!” Gambhir captioned his latest Instagram post, along with a picture of his serious face. However, he ended his caption with a laughing emoji.
To which, Yuvraj commented by saying, “Chalo at least your emoji has smiled.”
