Hero of India’s 2011 World Cup-winning campaign and one of the finest all-rounders to have played for the country, Yuvraj Singh, announced his retirement from international cricket on June 10 after serving Indian cricket for 19 long years.
After hanging his boots, Yuvraj played in the Global T20 Canada and the T10 League in Abu Dhabi. Following his stupendous show in the 2011 mega event, Yuvraj had to battle with cancer, and he went on to make his comeback in the national team. But after the mid of 2017, he couldn’t get his place back in Team India. In the end, he bid farewell and plied his trade in domestic T20 leagues.
The former all-rounder completed one year of his retirement from international cricket on Wednesday as wishes poured in from fans all across the world. #MissYouYuvi became one of the top trends on Twitter as fans recalled some of the best moments from the stylish left-hander’s glorious career.
Yuvraj took to social media to thanks his fans with a heartfelt note. “Dear fans. I am overwhelmed and full of gratitude. Cricket will always be my life just as each of you will always be an irreplaceable part of me,” Yuvraj wrote in his post. He also urged the citizens to follow the guidelines from the government to help in winning the war against COVID-19, which has disrupted life all across the globe.
“As responsible citizens, let’s continue to follow the gov’t instructions on COVID-19 and do our very best to help those in need,” Yuvraj added.
Bollywood actress Kim Sharma, who is still good friends with her ex, wished Yuvraj on Instagram and called him ‘Greatest of All Time’, albeit while using the acronym ‘G.O.A.T’.
Kim and Yuvraj dated for four years before going their separate ways. The real reason for their split was reported to be Yuvraj’s mother’s disapproval of their relationship. Nevertheless, it’s evident that Yuvraj and Kim continued to be friends; in fact, Kim is also in touch with Yuvi’s wife Hazel Keech and the trio even parties together.
