Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has picked the three best all-rounders in the cricketing world. Currently, the popular commentator and broadcaster has been quite active by naming the best lineups in the world in all formats. Especially of the big tournaments like the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Now, with the return of international action, Chopra turned to name the best all-rounders in the world. He picked Ben Stokes for the first place.
Stokes has been instrumental in numerous England wins, namely in the 2019 ODI World Cup and the subsequent Test match at Headingley against Australia in the Ashes.
Recently, the English vice-captain notched up his 10th test ton against West Indies at Old Trafford in Manchester, where he smashed 176. This is now his second 150+ Test score, followed by epic 258 against South Africa at Cape Town, back in 2016.
“At this point of time, there is no doubt in my mind that Ben Stokes is the number one all-rounder in the world across all three formats. He has an average of 43 in Tests, 59 in ODIs over the last two years,” Chopra said on his Youtube channel.
“He has a good bowling average across all formats as well, there is no doubt that Stokes is the number one all-rounder in the world across all formats,” he added.
The second-best all-rounder in the world, according to Chopra, is Shakib Al Hasan, followed by Ravindra Jadeja at number 3. Both Jadeja and Shakib have been holding the all-rounders’ front for India and Bangladesh, respectively, for well over a decade now.
Jadeja was part of the 2008 U19 World Cup-winning squad captained by Virat Kohli as well as the 2013 Champions Trophy-winning Indian side.
Shakib, on the other hand, has been amongst the top-ranked all-rounders in ICC charts for several years now.
