The coronavirus pandemic brought a halt to cricketing action and left a massive impact on the global sporting calendar. Many bilateral series, domestic competitions and some major tournaments, including the Men’s T20 World Cup, were either postponed or cancelled due to the spread of deadly disease.
England started the first Test series post global pandemic by inviting West Indies on their soil. However, Indian cricket fans have not received good news in the past as Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 missed the April-May deadline.
But, now after months of vagueness, it has finally decided that IPL 2020 will be held in the UAE from September 19, to November 8. The matches of the cash-rich league will take place in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.
As per media reports, an official announcement will be made by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) soon, and the IPL Governing Council will meet within a week to discuss the next steps.
No wonder, the news related to the resumption of IPL has spread a wave of happiness in the franchises circuit. The Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) took to social media on Friday and expressed their delight at the recent developments with regards to IPL 2020.
“Coming soon, this IPL 2020… The Excitement. The Passion. The Intensity. The Drama. The Challenger Spirit. Royal Challengers Bangalore can’t wait to #PlayBold. Are you with us?” RCB wrote on Twitter.

Meanwhile, sports broadcaster Harsha Bhogle pointed out the schedule period of IPL 2020 and said that the lucrative league would be full of doubleheaders.
“The decks are clearing for #IPL2020. 51 days means it is not full of doubleheaders either. I guess the next step, post Govt approvals, will be to work with health and quarantine protocols in the UAE to determine procedures for playing and broadcasting.”
