On July 1, India celebrates the National Doctors’ Day. It is celebrated in the memory of noted physician, Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy. Although it’s a fact that no single day is enough to thank doctors for their selfless service, this year’s Doctor’s day is even more special as doctors have been at the forefront, risking their own lives to treat the patients amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

To thank the medical staff for their valiant spirit, Indian cricketers paid tributes to the real warriors working day and night to ensure the safety of Indian citizens. Be it former or current, almost all the cricket superstars expressed their gratitude and hailed the remarkable work done by the doctors in these strenuous times.

Indian captain Virat Kohli saluted the spirit and dedication of doctors. He said people should celebrate the commitment of our doctors and health care workers every day.

The legendary Sachin Tendulkar saluted to the doctors. He also appealed fans to pray for doctors’ safety and well being.

The vice-captain of Team India, Rohit Sharma requested the citizens to follow the protocols in order to ease the workload of doctors.

Veteran Indian batsman VVS Laxman posted a video message on Twitter and said: “Coming from a family of doctors I always knew that the medical profession was the noblest of the profession. I’ve seen how doctors have not only used the knowledge and skill but also showed a lot of empathy and patience in treating the sick. So let us salute and pay tribute to the real superheroes who are not only risking their own health but are working tirelessly in fighting the pandemic.”

The 2011 World Cup hero, Yuvraj Singh termed doctors as the embodiment of selflessness, compassion and love.
