The cricketers or any other sportsperson are nothing without their fans. At a time when there are minimal cricketing actions taking place across the world, the cricketers are using this opportunity to connect with their fans.
In one such instance, Pakistan’s limited-overs skipper Babar Azam interacted with eight-year-old fan Samiya Afsar, who was startled by Babar’s fantastic gesture.
Samiya is a fledgeling cricketer who became an internet sensation after one of her videos where she is playing different strokes got viral. Even Kumar Sangakkara was left mesmerized by the youngster’s impeccable technique and some solid footwork.
Babar gave some invaluable advice to Samiya on how to execute pull-shots with perfection and keeping the backfoot steady.
“Sometimes when I try to play defensive or attacking shots my backfoot gets tangled up and I lose balance,” Samiya told Babar.
Babar advised the little girl to keep her backfoot sideways and practise relentlessly with a tennis ball to improve her balance.

“I am Babar Azam’s biggest fan and I want to be like him. Like a superhero, he looks after our country and takes our team out of troubles. One day, I will also do for our women’s team what he does for the men’s,” Samiya said.
“Babar bhai gave me some invaluable batting tips which I will practice whenever I can get back to nets,” she added.
Babar too was delighted to meet the child prodigy and lauded her batting skills.
“It was a great delight to meet Samiya. She is a superstar. I was in awe when I first saw her batting video. The way she was timing the ball was remarkable. She has all the potential to be a great batter and I look forward to catching up with her when the Covid-19 situation improves,” replied Babar, who is currently in England preparing for the upcoming T20I and Test series.
