MS Dhoni’s ability to keep himself calm and composed even in the direst times is something that goes beyond the comprehension of cricketing wisdom. As a captain, Dhoni scripted a historical chapter of the Indian cricket, and his immense contribution to the game will be cherished forever.

Although the internet is overpoured with everything one wants to know about the small-town wonder, fans give little more significance when someone who played with Dhoni speaks about him.

In a recent episode of Cricket Connected, premiered on Star Sports, former Indian batsman Gautam Gambhir opened about his experience of sharing a room with “Captain Cool”. Gambhir recalled an interesting anecdote when he had to sleep on the floor due to space constraints.

“We were roommates for more than a month and all we used to talk about was ‘hair’ because he had those long hair back then. We talked about how he would maintain his hair and all that stuff. I remember us sleeping on the floor once because we had a very small room and the first week, we discussed how to make it bigger. So we removed the beds out of the room and we both were sleeping on the floor, with the mattress on the floor, and it was a great moment,” said the Delhi-lad.

The 38-year old added that he developed a very close bond with Dhoni after sharing a room for more than a month.

“We were both young, MS Dhoni had recently started playing international cricket together. We went to Kenya together, we went for India A tour to Zimbabwe together and spent a lot of time together. But when you share a room for a month and a half with someone, you get to know a lot about that person,” Gambhir said.
