In India, there is hardly any other sport which has the capacity to match the passion revolving cricket. From tiny toddlers to an aged fanatic, cricket is played by one and all in the country.

Former Australian captain Steve Waugh, in his book ‘Spirit of Cricket’ has tried to encapsulate the madness revolving the sport in the country, by travelling the lengths and breadths of the nation before COVID-19 hit globally.

The 1999 World Cup winner travelled to grounds in metropolitans such Bangalore, Kolkata, Delhi, and Mumbai, as well as Tier-II cities such as Agra, Mathura, Dharamshala and Baroda to capture the moments on camera, depicting the frenzy surrounding the game.

Waugh, who is considered one of the legends of the game, has deep regards for the spirit and love for cricket, which India houses.

“I’ve just taken 20,000 photographs from my 17-day trip all over India. This book will showcase the spirit of cricket in India and explore why cricket is a religion to the people. I have also over 50 hours of video footage to be turned into a documentary-style program. I will be editing all the above work over the next few months with the aim to sell the book by August. I’m hoping corporates in India will buy this as a gift to give their clients,” Waugh told Mumbai mirror earlier.

Now, former Indian batsman Yuvraj Singh recently shared the trailer of Waugh’s book on Twitter which also drew the interest of ‘Master Blaster’ Sachin Tendulkar.

“The spirit & love for cricket in India beautifully put together by the great Steve Waugh & his team! A wonderful display of equality, love & passion for the game which unites the country!” Yuvi wrote while sharing Waugh’s video.

Then, Sachin reshared the video and added a note, which read, “Love the way you’ve captured the love for cricket in India, Steve. Glad I could be a small part of this journey. Can’t wait to get my hands on the book. Thanks for sharing this Yuvi.”

Soon, Yuvi replied to Sachin and said “My pleasure master! You have always been my love and inspiration of cricket.”
