The 2020 season of Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to take place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from September 19 to November 10, after the official approval from the Government of India on Monday (August 10).

Meanwhile, IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Wednesday (Aug 12) revealed that their fielding coach Dishant Yagnik has been tested positive for Covid-19.

Dishant also took to Twitter and urged everyone who had come in physical contact with him in the last 10 days to get properly tested.

“Hi all, I hv tested COVID +. Pls get tested if you hv been in contact with me in the last 10 days. In line wd BCCI protocols, I will be now quarantining for 14 days. I will then need 2 ngtv tests b4 joining the team @rajasthanroyals in UAE. Thx 4 yr blessings & good wishes!” Dishant wrote on the microblogging website.

Dishant was a wicket-keeper batsman for Rajasthan in the domestic circuit and has also played for the franchise in IPL. He is currently staying in his hometown Udaipur and has been recommended to get admitted into the hospital for a 14-day quarantine period.

The RR management took the test of players and staff while keeping in mind that the team members are supposed to assemble in Mumbai next week for their flight to the UAE. The franchise executed an extra test for all players, support staff and management travelling to the UAE. This checkup was in addition to the two tests recommended by the BCCI.

Royals also issued a statement in which they said
“Post 14 days, Dishant will be undergoing two tests as per the protocols of BCCI. On return of two negative reports, he will be allowed to join the team after self-isolating for 6 days and receiving 3 further negative tests upon his arrival in the UAE,”

“We request everyone who has been in close proximity to Dishant in the past 10 days to self isolate and get tested for Covid-19,” the statement added.

The Jaipur-based franchise issued a clarification revealing that no other players have come in contact with Dishant in the last ten days.

“We can confirm that no Rajasthan Royals or other IPL players have been in close proximity to Dishant in the past 10 days. We wish Dishant a speedy recovery and look forward to him joining the Royals camp soon in the UAE,” the franchise statement read further.
