On Sunday (August 2), the Governing Council (GC) of the Indian Premier League (IPL) confirmed the dates of 2020 edition of the tournament, commencing from September 19. The IPL 2020 final will be played on November 10, which happens to be the weekday.
The tournament will witness ten double-headers with the afternoon matches starting at 15:30 IST and the evening matches will have a 19:30 IST start.
After a long hiatus from cricketing activities in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, players and fans alike are rejoiced to sense the resumption of cricket with an action-packed T20 extravaganza.
Sakshi, the wife of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni, reacted to the latest development by sharing her picture in a stylish yellow dress, a colour associated with the Chennai-based franchise.
Sakshi has been one of the biggest supporters of Dhoni-led CSK, and she is often spotted in stands, cheering for her husband and his team.
The stunning post naturally grabbed CSK’s attention, and they replied with the lyrics of a famous Tamil song: “Va Va Manjal Malare”. Sakshi, despite not being a native Tamil speaker, knew the lines and completed the next verse of the same song.
Meanwhile, the Ranchi-lad hasn’t featured in competitive cricket since the semi-final match against New Zealand in the ICC World Cup 2019. The upcoming edition of the league will break a year-long sabbatical for Dhoni.
The Ranchi-born cricketer has a notable distinction of leading his teams in nine out of twelve IPL finals and winning the championship three times.
There has been intense speculation around Dhoni’s retirement, and it is being said that the upcoming edition of the cash-rich league could be a decider for his future. However, such rumours are baseless and exaggerating in nature, and should be taken with a pinch of salt.
