Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput committed suicide on June 14 with his fans and the film industry still dealing with the loss of a great human being and the rising star.
The 34-year-old actor’s sudden demise has surprised the cricket fraternity notably because he portrayed the role of MS Dhoni in the former Indian skipper’s biopic.
Sushant had started his acting career through daily soap Pavitra Rishta and then moved on to Bollywood. He acted in hit Hindi films like ‘Kai Po Che!’, ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’, ‘Kedarnath’ and ‘Chhichhore’.
While the police are still doing its investigation regarding what actually happened at the time of his death, we take a look back at the time when Sushant got the opportunity to get to know the former Team India skipper Dhoni.
A lot has been said about how depression played a crucial role in Sushant’s suicide, and the who’s who of the Bollywood industry are being interrogated for the same.
Many people are also demanding a CBI inquiry on Sushant’s sudden death as they smell something fishy. Recently, the late actor’s family took a stand and filed an FIR against VJ turned actress and Sushant’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty for mentally harassing the actor and robbing him financially.
Sushant’s friendship with Dhoni
Sushant’s portrayal of Dhoni on the silver screen won many hearts. There were many instances in the movie when the spectators couldn’t differentiate whether they were seeing Dhoni or Sushant. During the shooting of the film, Dhoni and Sushant became good friends, and the latter often spoke highly of the veteran Indian wicketkeeper-batsman.
Sushant had many times admitted that he admired the way Dhoni maintained his composure in tough situations. During the promotions of ‘Chichhore’, Sushant spoke candidly on how he enjoyed spending time with Mahi while doing the latter’s biopic.
In one of the shows for Fox Star Hindi, stand-up comedian Zakir Khan had asked Sushant and his colleagues if they had ever indulged in sports. To this, Sushant took a friendly jibe saying, “Maine khela hai… main Dhoni kiya hai bhai (I’ve played, I have portrayed Dhoni)”.
Further in the interview, Sushant said, “I had a lot of fun, he [Dhoni] is a great man. You have to give him attention, else you’ll miss what he’s saying.”
