Former and current Indian cricketers have expressed shock over the Air India Express plane skidding on the runway in Kozhikode on Friday (August 7), killing nineteen and leaving several seriously injured.

Cricketing icon Sachin Tendulkar led the cricket fraternity to offer their players to the deceased and strength to their family members. Team India skipper Virat Kohli, his limited-overs deputy Rohit Sharma, Yuvraj Singh and Ravi Shastri among many others also expressed their sadness and prayed for the departed souls.

An Air India Express flight with 190 passengers on board en route from Dubai skidded off the runway and split into two while landing at Kerala’s Kozhikode airport in heavy rain on Friday evening. The plane fell into a 35-feet valley before splitting into three parts. The pilot-in-command Captain Deepak Sathe and his co-pilot Akhilesh Kumar were among those killed onboard.
