Australia’s Glenn Maxwell is known for big and clean hitting. His art of taking the bowlers to the cleaners makes him stand in a completely different league of players. The right-handed batsman is currently waiting to make a comeback in the Australian cricket team after he took a break from the captivating game citing mental health issues.

Maxwell has been named in the 21-member squad by Cricket Australia (CA) for the upcoming tour to England concerning the limited-overs series. Australia and England will play three T20Is and as many ODIs, starting from September 4 at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton.

Meanwhile, Maxwell was recently spotted on Cricbuzz chat show hosted by veteran cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle. Since Maxwell is himself considered as a T20 specialist batsman, Harsha asked him to pick top 5 T20 batsmen out of some very well-known names of the fascinating sport.

Harsha asked Maxi to pick 5 batsmen from a grid of 6 with five names in each row. The first- and second-line featured openers. Similarly, the third and fourth-slot mentioned middle-order batsmen and the last line was full with top-quality finishers.

The first row had the names like Chris Gayle, Rohit Sharma, David Warner, Quinton de Kock and Jos Buttler; Maxwell without wasting any time picked Buttler.

“I’m gonna go with Jos Buttler. Single-handedly, he wins games and can keep as well. I’ve seen him do some incredible things with the bat in his hand. They are all superstar players, but I just wouldn’t mind having Jos in my team,” said Maxwell.

The next slot also contained opening batsmen in the form of Jonny Bairstow, Shikhar Dhawan, Martin Guptill, KL Rahul, Chris Lynn. Maxwell went with his Aussie teammate Lynn and said the latter is a classy player and hit the ball miles.

Now coming to the row of middle-order batsmen. The third row had players such as Virat Kohli, Steve Smith, Suresh Raina, Faf du Plessis, and Kane Williamson. When Maxwell was asked to choose one player out of these, he went straight with Kohli.

“This is an easy one. I’m gonna go with Virat Kohli. He will win us the games, unbelievable record while chasing. He is a superstar,” added Maxwell.

The 31-year-old Aussie star was then asked to pick a batsman from the fourth line which featured batsmen like AB de Villiers, Ben Stokes, Shimron Hetmyer, Rishabh Pant and Eoin Morgan. Maxwell said that it is a difficult one, but he eventually picked Stokes.

“This is a tough one, but I’m gonna go with Stokes. At the moment, I think he is the best player on the planet,” Maxwell heaped praises for Stokes.

Coming to the last row, it had names of arguably the best finishers in the shortest game. This slot consisted of players like MS Dhoni, Andre Russell, Hardik Pandya, Jimmy Neesham, and Kieron Pollard. When it comes to choosing between these big names, Maxwell went with Caribbean giant Russell.
