Shikhar Dhawan and Mithali Raj were conferred with National Sports Awards by President Ram Nath Kovind at the Rashtrapati Bhawan on Saturday, November 13.
While Mithali was honoured with Major Dhyanchand Khel Ratna, Dhawan got the Arjuna Award for his notable contribution to Indian cricket.
Last month, the Central Government had released the name of sportspersons who will be conferred with National Sports Awards. Two cricketers Mithali and Shikhar were among them.

Along with Dhawan, a total of 35 Indian athletes were awarded the Arjuna Award which includes members of the Indian Hockey Team which won the Bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Apart from Mithali, 11 athletes were awarded the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna by the Indian President including Olympic Gold Medalist Neeraj Chopra.
