On Wednesday, the International Cricket Council (ICC) released the latest rankings of Tests and T20 Internationals (T20Is).

Australian batting sensation Marnus Labuschagne dethroned England captain Joe Root to become the number one ranked Test batter. Ranked fourth before the series, Labuschagne climbed two spots after scoring 74 in Australia’s win in the Gabba Test, followed by a stunning ton and a fifty (103 and 51) in the second Ashes Test in Adelaide.

Indian captain Virat Kohli has fallen one slot to the seventh position while Rohit Sharma has maintained his fifth spot.

Aussie paceman Mitchell Starc has broken into the top-10 bowlers’ rankings headed by newly-appointed Australian skipper Pat Cummins. Starc has jumped four places to acquire the 9th spot after claiming impressive figures of 6/80 in the Adelaide Test, which included a four-fer in the first innings.

India’s Ravichandran Ashwin has retained his second spot among bowlers as well as all-rounders in the longest format.

Similarly, Pakistan captain Babar Azam retained the top spot for batters among T20Is. With scores of 0 and 7 in the first two T20Is against the West Indies, Babar had lost his top position to No.3 in last week’s rankings update. However, the Pakistan skipper came back and is now tied at the top with England’s Dawid Malan after a brilliant 79 in the final T20I against the Windies.

Babar’s partner-in-crime Mohammad Rizwan has attained the No.3 spot in T20I batters’ rankings with career-best ratings of 798. Rizwan was the Player of the Match in the final T20I against West Indies, thanks to a brilliant 45-ball 87.

The only Indian batter in the T20Is top-10 is KL Rahul, who has kept his fifth position intact with 729 rating points.
