The ongoing first Ashes Test between Australia and England in Brisbane has reached on a thrilling stage after the visitors’ comeback on Day 3 of the contest.

Australia were on top of their rivals during the first two days of the match. After bundling out the tourists for a mere 147, the hosts piled up a mammoth 425 in response to further demoralise the English side.

However, captain Joe Root (86 no) and top-order batter Dawid Malan (80 no) staged England’s comeback as they formed an unbeaten 159-run partnership for the third wicket to keep Aussie bowlers at bay and cut short the deficit from 278 to 58 at stumps on the third day.

Amid the exciting contest between the two oldest cricketing nations, one moment captured everyone’s attention. In front of the packed crowd at the Gabba, an England team supporter Rob proposed to his Australian girlfriend Nat.

It all happened during the drinks break of the first session when Rob distracted his girlfriend by pointing at themselves on the big screen before pulling the ring out and getting down on a knee to make his proposal.

“I’m gonna keep this short and sweet. It’s been four years since I met you, Will you marry me? “ asked Rob while proposing to Nat in a clip shared by 7cricket.

Nat nodded in ‘Yes’ before the couple sealed the deal with a kiss as the fans around them erupted into cheers.

Here is the video:

Queensland women cricketer Holly Ferling, who also works as a host at Channel Seven, took the couple’s interview where Nat revealed she wasn’t expecting the proposal.

“It wasn’t expected at all. I’m still so shocked,” Nat told Ferling.

On being asked to recall their first meeting, Rob said: “I met her at the cricket (game). We met at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) four years ago.”
