Australian star Steve Smith is known for his unusualness in life. From his out of the world batting stance to his midnight practice sessions, Smith is a completely different character of the cricketing world.
Although not every time the New South Wales cricketer does these things intentionally, as on Thursday night, an unusual incident happened with the Aussie Test vice-captain when he got stuck in a lift for nearly an hour.
In a situation like that, more often than not, people get panic, but as explained above, Smith is different from the rest as he gave live updates of his captivity and escape from the lift via his Instagram story.
Smith was stuck in a lift at Park Hyatt in Melbourne while his friend and teammate Marnus Labuschagne was at the opposite end helping Smudge with whatever he could, along with staff members trying to open the lift.
“I’m on my floor, I’m staying on this level, but the doors won’t open. Out of service up there, apparently. I’ve tried to get the door open; I’ve got this side open, Marnus (Labuschagne) is on the other side trying to open that to not much avail. Not quite the evening I had planned, let’s be honest,” said Smith on his story.
Smith even asked his fans to provide him with suggestions for what he could do while being stuck in a lift. “Well, I’m just taking a seat. What else do you do when you’re stuck in a lift? I could be here for a while. Anyone got any suggestions for what I can do?” asked Smith.
Smith also got a bag of M&Ms from Labuschagne, who was trying to open the lift door. The whole process of Smith being stuck inside the lift carried for an hour before he was freed. The entire story was posted in a video format by the official handle of 7cricket on their Twitter handle.
