Australia continued their domination over arch-rivals England in the Ashes 2021-22, defeating the visitors by 146 runs in the fifth and final Test at Bellerive Oval in Hobart to seal the series 4-0.

Though, England seemed to be on their way to a win for the first time in the series when fast bowler Mark Wood destroyed the Aussie batting unit. Wood picked a six-wicket haul to help the tourists bundle out hosts for just 155 runs in their second innings.

Chasing 271, English openers Zak Crawley and Rory Burns gave their side a decent start, putting up a partnership of 68 runs. But once Cameron Green dismissed Burns on the stroke of tea, it opened the floodgates as England got all out for just 124, to lose the contest by 146 runs. Green finished with 3 for 21, while Scott Boland and Pat Cummins also picked up three scalps each.

Brief Scores:

Australia 303 (Travis Head 101, Cameron Green 74; Stuart Broad 3/59) and 155 (Alex Carey 49; Mark Wood 6/37) beat England 188 (Chris Woakes 36; Pat Cummins 4/45) and 124 (Zak Crawley 36; Scott Boland 3/18, Cameron Green 3/21) by 146 runs.

Notably, the home team had earlier won the Tests in Brisbane, Adelaide and Melbourne to retain the urn, while the fourth match in Sydney was ended in a draw.
