India pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has stormed back into the top ten in the latest released Test rankings by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Bumrah finished with five wickets in the first Test against South Africa in Centurion, which the visitors won by 113 runs. Riding on the splendid bowling display, Bumrah jumped three places to reach the ninth position among bowlers.

Bumrah’s partner-in-crime Mohammed Shami also moved up in the rankings. Shami advanced two places to 17th after his eight-wicket performance in the series opener.

On the other hand, South Africa speedster Kagiso Rabada has gained one place to acquire the sixth spot, thanks to his seven-wicket haul display in the Centurion Test. His teammate Lungi Ngidi rose 16 spots to move to 30th on the list. Ngidi finished with eight scalps in the first Test.

Australian captain Pat Cummins retained his top spot with 902 rating points, followed by Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and Pakistan pacer Shaheen Afridi at number two and three, respectively.

Among the batters, Indian Test captain Virat Kohli has slipped two positions and is now at the ninth spot with 747 rating points. Kohli managed to score 53 runs in the Centurion Test, averaging only 26.50. However, KL Rahul, who is captaining India in the ongoing second Test in the absence of Kohli, has moved to 31st position after smashing a tremendous century in the first Test against Proteas.

For South Africa, captain Dean Elgar has advanced two spots to 14th after his fighting 77 in the second innings. Similarly, Temba Bavuma has progressed 16 places to 39th in the batters ranking headed by Australia’s Marnus Labuschagne.
