On Wednesday, Team India registered their second win in the ongoing Under-19 World Cup 2022 after defeating Ireland by a massive margin of 174 runs in the Group B match at Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad. With the victory, India also made it to the quarterfinals of the multi-team tournament.

Batting first, Indian top order stamped its authority over the Irish bowlers as the duo of Angkrish Raghuvanshi, and Harnoor Singh formed a dominating partnership of 164 runs for the opening wicket.

Raghuvanshi scored a brilliant run-a-ball 79 with the help of 12 boundaries, including a couple of sixes, before Jamie Forbes dismissed him. Similarly, Harnoor fell just 12 runs short of his century after getting trapped in front by Matthew Humphreys.

In the absence of regular skipper Yash Dhull, who is in isolation along with four others due to Covid, Nishant Sindhu led the side. He scored a steady 34-ball 36, and Rajvardhan Hangargekar made an unbeaten 39 off 17, including five sixes, as India posted 307/5 in their allotted 50 overs.

In response, the Irish side got bundled out for just 133, losing the contest by 174 runs. Scott MacBeth with 32 off 40 and Joshua Cox with 28 off 46 were the top scorers for Ireland.

Aneeshwar Gautam (2/11), Garv Sangwan (2/23), Kaushal Tambe (2/8) were the pick of the bowlers for India.
