Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf has reportedly been reprimanded for his shocking behaviour on the field where he slapped his teammate Kamran Ghulam during a match in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2022.
In the last league game of PSL 2022 held between Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi, Rauf was caught slapping and expressing his anger at his teammate Ghulam after the latter had dropped a catch.
The clip of the whole incident quickly went viral on the internet as several fans across the world lambasted Rauf for crossing the line. Now, according to a source in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the match referee Ali Naqvi has reprimanded Rauf for his actions.
Although, the source mentioned that the match referee himself came forward to reprimand Rauf since neither of the on-field umpires had reported the incident to him.
Former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi along with some other ex-cricketers reckoned that Rauf was out of line.
“I don’t think it was an incident that should have happened in a match with the world watching, it doesn’t leave a good impression even if Haris didn’t mean it,” Afridi said as quoted by TOI.
“I hope Haris learns from this incident because it was in bad taste, and in future if he repeats it, he will be in big trouble,” he added.
In the match, Zalmi managed to post 158/7 in their allotted 20 overs. Experienced campaigner Shoaib Malik top-scored for his side with 32 off 28 deliveries, whereas Haider Ali played a handy knock of 25 from 22 balls. For the Qalandars, Fawad Ahmed was the pick of the bowlers, striking two wickets for 26 runs in his quota of 4 overs.
In response, the Qalandars also managed to tie the score with the loss of eight wickets, thanks to late fireworks by tailender Shaheen Afridi. Shaheen smacked 39 off 20 balls with the help of 2 fours and 4 sixes.
However, in the Super Over, Zalmi held their nerves and won the contest. Wahab Riaz bowled a brilliant over, conceding only five runs before Malik smashed two back-to-back boundaries to take his team home.
