On Tuesday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 Player Auction list. The list comprises 590 (370 Indian, 220 Overseas) cricketers who are set to go under the hammer on February 12 and 13 in Bangalore.

Concerning the prize bracket of cricketers, as many as 48 players have placed themselves at the highest bracket price of INR 2 crores. Likewise, 20 players are on the reserve price of INR 1.5 crores, and the price bracket of INR 1 crores consists of 34 players.

In the two-day affair auction process, all 10 franchises – Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders, Lucknow Super Giants, Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Team Ahmedabad – will be focusing on picking the best deal.

Earlier, the eight existing sides were asked to retain a maximum of four players ahead of the mega-auction. While CSK, DC, KKR and MI retained 4 players each, RR, RCB, and SRH went with 3 players each. PBKS retained the least 2 players.

Similarly, the two new teams were asked to pick their draft picks in the combination of a maximum of three players with not more than one overseas star. Lucknow Super Giants went with KL Rahul, Marcus Stoinis and Ravi Bishnoi, while the Ahmedabad team picked Hardik Pandya, Rashid Khan, and Shubman Gill.

  • Mumbai Indians: Number of open player slots – 21, Overseas slots – 7
  • Punjab Kings: Number of open player slots – 23, Overseas slots – 8
  • Rajasthan Royals: Number of open player slots – 22, Overseas slots – 7
  • Royal Challengers Bangalore: Number of open player slots – 22, Overseas slots – 7
  • Sunrisers Hyderabad: Number of open player slots – 22, Overseas slots – 7
  • Team Ahmedabad: Number of open player slots – 22, Overseas slots – 7
