England’s fast bowler Jofra Archer rocked the charts on Day 2 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega-auction. Archer, who is most likely to miss the fifteenth season of the cash-rich league, triggered a bidding war amongst three franchises.

During the accelerated part of the auctions, Mumbai Indians (MI), Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) all went for Archer to get him in the squad. However, MI kept on pushing the bar and eventually acquired the services of the English speedster for INR 8 crores.

Archer’s inclusion in the Mumbai team stirred the buzz on social media, with fans wondering what the scenes would be to see Archer bowling together with Indian superstar Jasprit Bumrah.

Notably, Archer was ruled out of a large part of cricketing action in 2021 due to a persistent elbow injury. He missed out on the ODIs against India in March 2021 and IPL 2021. The right-armer then underwent an operation in May, which kept him out of the Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 and the recently-concluded Ashes.
