India have reached the top of the ICC T20I team rankings after whitewashing West Indies in the three-match series. The Rohit Sharma-led Team India registered a comprehensive win over Kieron Pollard & Co. in the third and final T20I on Sunday.
The victory helped India catapult England at the top of the T20I team rankings, with Rohit’s men now matching the top rating of 269.
Suryakumar Yadav, who walked in to bat after Ishan Kishan’s dismissal, unleashed his brutal power on way to a 31-ball 65 and was well supported by Venkatesh Iyer (35 not out off 19) as India posted 184/5 on the board after being put in to bat.
While defending the set total, Indian pacers – Harshal Patel (3/22), Venkatesh (2/23 in 2.1 overs) and Shardul Thakur (2/33) – performed their tasks brilliantly after Deepak Chahar (2/15 in 1.5 overs) was forced to leave the field due to a hamstring injury.
For Windies, wicketkeeper-batter Nicholas Pooran continued his fine form scoring the third consecutive half-century (61 off 47 balls), but it was not enough as the hosts could manage just 167 for nine in their full quota of 20 overs.

Winning this game with one bowler short was special. Captain Rohit Sharma was fantastic in managing the bowlers.

Suryakumar Yadav & Venkatesh Iyer can bat at any position & accelerate from the first ball. T20s is like a game of chess.India can spring in a surprise & bat either of them at higher positions to put off the opponents & target 5th bowler.T20s is about staying ahead of opposition
