The two heavyweights in Women’s cricket, Australia and England, are all set to face each other in the highly-anticipating ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022 final, to be played at Hagley Oval in Christchurch on Sunday, April 03.

England will be aiming to defend their World Cup crown after staging a stunning turnaround to reach the final despite losing their first three games of the tournament. On the other hand, the Aussies would be focusing on grabbing the prestigious trophy for the record seventh time.

Australia are, in fact, far ahead when it comes to overall ODI fixtures between the two sides. Both teams have so far competed in 82 ODIs, where Australia won 56 while England came victorious in 22. The remaining three matches had no result, while one ended as a tie.

Pitch report

Fast bowlers get decent help at the Hagley Oval. However, after sustaining the initial overs, one can bat for long. Dew is expected to play its part, so chasing would be an ideal choice at this venue.

England has an advantage because they have played two games here in the multi-team event, while Australia haven’t played a single game in Christchurch since the 2000 World Cup.
