Chennai Super Kings (CSK) fast bowler Deepak Chahar has been ruled out of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 owing to a back injury. He will be out of action for at least four months and is, therefore, set to miss the 2022 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup later this year in Australia.
Chahar was an integral part of CSK’s fourth championship triumph last year, picking up 14 wickets in 15 games at an economy of 8.35. In his absence, the yellow army has lost four out of five games this season – a first for the franchise – and are placed at the seventh spot in the points table. The franchise is allowed to make an injury replacement for Chahar, a decision on which is yet to be made.
Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have signed Harshit Rana as a like-to-like replacement for their young pacer Rasikh Salam for the remainder of IPL 2022.
Salam, who played just two games for KKR this season, has been ruled out due to a lower back injury and will take no further part in the ten-team tournament. His replacement, Harshit, was roped in by the Knight Riders at his base price of INR 20 lakh.
Update: Delhi Capitals physiotherapist Patrick Farhart has been tested positive for COVID-19. He is currently under the close observation of DC Medical Team in Mumbai.
