Leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is surely a character and a much-loved figure in the players’ dressing room, courtesy of his friendly and fun-loving attitude. He had a great time when he was part of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and is enjoying the current stint with Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.

Chahal has managed to keep it tidy and has taken wickets at regular intervals. Currently, he is positioned at the second spot among the leading wicket-takers (7) in the fifteenth season of the cash-rich league.

There is no doubt that Chahal’s friendly nature attracts everyone’s attention towards him. However, during his time with Mumbai Indians (MI) in 2013, the leggie had to deal with a scary incident when a player got drunk and bullied him.

Chahal has shared a spine-chilling experience wherein a fellow cricketer coerced him during a post-game party in Bengaluru at IPL 2013. The 31-year-old said he had a near-death experience and learnt an important lesson from that night.

Chahal said he was hung from a balcony on the 15th floor of a hotel in Bengaluru by a ‘drunk player’. The Jind-based cricketer mentioned he almost fainted when others came and helped him return to the room.

In a video shared by Royals on Twitter, Chahal, along with Karun Nair and Ravichandran Ashwin, spoke about his near to death experience. The leg-spinner opened up about an incident that many people are unaware of.

“My story, some people know about. I have never spoken about this, I never shared this. In 2013, I was with the Mumbai Indians. We had a match in Bengaluru. There was a get together after that. There was a player who was very drunk, I will not take his name. He was very drunk; he was looking at me, and he just called me. He took me outside, and he dangled me from the balcony,” revealed Chahal.

“My hands were around him. Had I lost my grip, I was on the 15th floor. Suddenly many people who were there came and got the situation under control. I kind of fainted. They gave me water, then I realised how responsible you should be if you go out anywhere. So, this was one incident where I felt I made a narrow escape. Had there been the slightest of mistake, I would have fallen down,” he added.
