Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) fast-bowling all-rounder Nathan Coulter-Nile will miss the remaining season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 due to injury. Coulter-Nile was part of the Royals playing XI in their first match, where they registered a thumping win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

The 34-year-old will undergo rehabilitation after reaching his hometown in Australia.

“Unfortunately, I have the hard task of wishing him farewell,” RR head physio John Gloster said in a video shared by the franchise on Twitter.

“It’s always hard to lose someone, particularly when it’s through injury. And you know we were really looking forward to spending a lot of time with you [Coulter-Nile] throughout this tournament.

“Unfortunately, that’s not going to be. But you are a big part of us. Anything you need from us, we are always here. We look forward to having you back with us, whenever that might be.”

Counter-Nile, who was bought by Rajasthan for INR 2 crore at the IPL 2022 mega-auction, got injured during the final over of Sunrisers’ innings when he pulled up in his follow-through. After walking off the field with the team doctor, he didn’t return to bowl.

Counter-Nile was replaced by fast bowler Navdeep Saini in RR’s next two games – versus Mumbai Indians (MI) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

Now, it will be interesting to see who will replace Counter-Nile for the rest of the season.
